Please translate Linux to Philippine Language to make Linux more easy to
use to Filipinos.
If manpower is the problem, you can campaign to all school schools in the
Philippines to help translate Linux and applications to Philippine Language.
Translating Linux to Philippine language is only a manpower problem.
I can also help translate Linux to a Philippine Language

Thank you jdcrisostomo for your help.
How can we campaign to all Filipinos to join the Ubuntu localization
so that Linux will be translated to Filipino?
Maybe we can post it in Facebook, university forums, school mailiing
list, government mailing list.
We could also post in on job sites mentioning that joining an open
source activity is like an on-the-job training and will be added to
their resumes and there are many ways to contribute to an open source
project and anybody can join.

Hi Mr. Buenavista,

My name is Jean Austin, a member of Ubuntu Forums. Thank you for your
effort in bringing up a social media group in Facebook. Although I believe
the one recognized by the local community is named "Ubuntu Team Philippines
(Ubuntu-PH)" which currently has 800+ likes, which, however, is only a page
and not a Facebook group.

Hi guys,

I believe Eric Manuel
Pareja<https://plus.google.com/u/1/116697769004457122504> has
done this before. He contributed code, translated Ubuntu installation into
Tagalog. However, I am not exactly so sure whether there exists a full
tagalog translation for the entire Ubuntu Desktop.

I agree, Ubuntu Team
Philippines<http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=303>is the
first step to raise this issue. Or you may contact one of the team
members at Ubuntu Launchpad Team
Philippines<https://launchpad.net/~loco-philippine-team>
.

Cheers!

Sa lahat ng mga kasama sa Ubuntu-PH. Mabuhay kayong lahat! at Isang mainit

limitadong panahong aking makakayanan.

Mungkahi lamang na ituloy natin ang nasimulan na sa

Para naman hindi tayo bumalik sa unag hakbang pa lamang (step 1 o square 1)
o magsimula sa wala (zero?).

I tried searching in FB for any Page about Pinoy Ubuntu Users and none
exist. So, I decided to create one.
http://www.facebook.com/PinoyUbuntuUsers
With this social platform, we can have a wider range of Ubuntu users and
lovers.
Thank you. See at the FB Page. I need more admin.

Hi guys,

I believe Eric Manuel Pareja has done this before. He contributed code, translated Ubuntu installation into Tagalog. However, I am not exactly so sure whether there exists a full tagalog translation for the entire Ubuntu Desktop.

I agree, Ubuntu Team Philippines is the first step to raise this issue. Or you may contact one of the team members at Ubuntu Launchpad Team Philippines .

Cheers!

Hello,

Back in early 2000 nang simulan ang pagsalin ng Debian messages sa Tagalog.
Ito ang unang inisyatiba hinggil sa pagsasalin. Kaya ng magsimula ang
Ubuntu development, minana nito ang inabot ng pagsasalin ng mga mensahe sa
Debian.

Sa ngayon, walang gaanong aktibidad ang debian translation. Nasa binggit na
rin ito na maalis bilang isa sa mga lenggwahe sa debian installer,
http://www.perrier.eu.org/weblog/2012/05/21#di-deactivation-status-5

May dalawang options, proceed sa ubuntu translation or ituloy ang naunang
inisyatiba sa pagsasalin sa Debian.

Maraming Salamat po.

Maraming salamat sa mga replies!

Let us spread more for our advocay to finish the Ubuntu Philippine translation.

So to feleciano buenavista <fgbuenavista at yahoo.com> , Jean Austin
Rodriguez <zeroseven0183 at gmail.com> and Eduardo Bergavera
<edbergavera at gmail.com>, they will mention in their Ubuntu Philippines
facebook campaign page and in Google+ campaign page that installing
Ubuntu GNU/Linux in their computers will remove their problems with
Windows being bog by viruses and and joining an open source project
will be an experience that they can put in their resumes. They can
become user/testers, translators/writers, developers, writers,
interface designers, free software campaigners, etc. We will also
mention in our campaigns the steps on how to join the Ubuntu
Philippine Localization. We can also campaign on job sites where
students and workers can see it as part on an on the job training.

This is my draft on how to join the Ubuntu Philippine Localization.
Please edit and improve.
1. Join the translation of Ubuntu Localization Philippine Team: going
to launchpad at https://launchpad.net/~loco-philippine-team on their
web browsers. Click join and create a new account.
2. Join the mailing list of Ubuntu Localization Philippine Team at
http://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-ph. Provide email
address and password then click Subscribe. Confirm subscription from
your email account.
3. Join the forums of Ubuntu Localization Philippine Team at
http://ph.ubuntuforums.org. Click Register. Provide a username,
password, email address, provide answer on random question then click
Complete Registration. Confirm registration from your email account.
4. Join the irc channel of Ubuntu Localization Philippine Team at
#ubuntu-ph @ irc.freenode.net. Download an irc client like Xchat.
Select freenode network/server. Need help on how to register account
in freenode for ubuntu-ph channel.

The translations at launchpad are still not finished.
So our goal is to finish the Ubuntu Philippine translation
Let us make the Forums and the IRC channel as our workspace.
Let us work together in the forum and irc.
If anybody needs help in translating something, just post in the irc
and forum and everybody will help translate.

I have a question kung pwede ba buksan ng sabay2x ng mga translators
ang isang software sa launchpad na isalin para mas mabilis matapos ang
pagtranslate ng isang software sa launchpad?

We already have a start because Rage Callao <rage.callao at gmail.com>
provided us the link on how to translate at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translati
ons/QuickStartGuide/StartingTranslate and the experienced translators
will guide us more in the forum and irc.

These are the Philippine languages that I see in localization page:
Bikol, Cebuano, Filipino, Hiligaynon, Iloko, Pampangan, Pangasinan,
Tagalog, Waray. So we need everybody to join and help.

These are my suggestion for translation tools: (Please edit and improve)
1. Dictionary. We can buy good English-Filipino Filipino-English
dictionaries at National bookstore. If anybody knows free
English-Filipino dictionary software, please share.
2. Use Google Translate. I am using Google translate and it is good.
3. Anybody here are already translating Ubuntu, please help us the newbies.
4. Help each other at the forum and irc.
5. Campaign more so that all Filipinos will help translate.

To rick <rbahaguejr at gmail.com>: We will start with Ubuntu because
Ubuntu is more configured as a desktop after installation which is
easier for users. Then Debian because Debian installation is defaulted
to Gnome desktop.

To Yolynne Medina <yolynne at gmail.com>: Maybe the mailing list
administrators of the Ubuntu Philippine Localization can lead the
project or the first filipino who joined the Ubuntu Philippine
Localization.

We will focus on finishing translating the base installation of Ubuntu
which is the Gnome desktop and its bundled apps, system gui settings,
etc. that the translation will be finished.

This will help preserve our language and culture and learn other
languages/dialects and cultures in other provinces. Maybe in the
future we will held meetings anywhere in the Philippines to visit and
make new friends and discover Philippines more.

Maybe in the future we will make our own Ubuntu distro named like
Ubuntu Filipino/Pilipino where we choose our own base apps and package
the distro aligned to our culture like the Philippine weather,
Philippines maps, Philippine Calendar/holidays, etc

Hello,
Back in early 2000 nang simulan ang pagsalin ng Debian messages sa
Tagalog. Ito ang unang inisyatiba hinggil sa pagsasalin. Kaya ng magsimula
ang Ubuntu development, minana nito ang inabot ng pagsasalin ng mga mensahe
sa Debian.?
Sa ngayon, walang gaanong aktibidad ang debian translation. Nasa binggit
na rin ito na maalis bilang isa sa mga lenggwahe sa debian installer,?

May dalawang options, proceed sa ubuntu translation or ituloy ang naunang

Maraming salamat Efren.
Kaya natin to.
Just guide us what is the workflow and inform which part of Ubuntu need
more translation at pagtulongtulongan natin sa mailing list, forum at irc.
I will also share an online dictionary for Cebuano translators because I
speak Cebuano Here is the link http://www.binisaya.com/cebuano.
Even if our progress is slow but steady, matatapos rin ang project.
As long as we work together may progress kasi alam natin ang goal na
tapusin ang translation ng Ubuntu.
Kung nahihirapan mag translate, post lang sa mailing list, forum at irc
para pagtulongan.

Efren you can manage this so that Ubuntu has a Filipino translation.
Campaign pa tayo para lahat ng mga Filipino sasali sa Ubuntu Philippine
Translation.
Campaign tayo sa mga bulletin boards sa mga schools. Students are hard
workers, serious at interesado kasi information dissemination ang computers
at internet. Let the students know that they can use this experience for
good.
Kung sino may contact sa DepED at mga schools. Pa install ang Ubuntu sa mga
Computer Labs at Computer Libraries sa buong Pilipinas at pa join ang mga
estudyante sa Ubuntu Philippine Translation.
Kaya lang wala ako sa pinas ngayon. Kaya sa internet lang ako mag campaign.
